ALBON For Dogs Diarrhea | Best Antibiotic Treatment

Albon is a veterinarian medicine, which is available in tablets, oral suspension, and injection form. It is a Zoetis pharma product that contains a chemical compound Sulfadimethoxine. It is a sulfonamide drug that works by inhibiting the growth of bacteria and micro-organisms at the infected area of the body.

In the following article, I would explain How Sulfadimethoxine helps to treat diarrhea in dogs?. Sulfadimethoxine is the number one antibiotic to treat coccidiosis infections in dogs. Coccidia is the class of microscopic parasites that commonly causes diarrhea in dogs.

How To Use ALBON FOR DOGS Diarrhea?

It contains Sulphadimethoxine which is a broad-spectrum, highly effective antibiotic with bacteriostatic properties that help to treat all types of microscopic and coccidiosis infections in dogs and cats.

These microscopic bacteria cause soft tissue infections, urinary tract infections, respiratory infections, and genital infections in small animals like dogs, pets, cats, kittens, chickens, and sometimes calves, cows and cattle, etc.

In my opinion, this is the number one selected antibiotic to treat diarrheal infection in dogs and pets. Because Sulfadimethoxine found so effective in treating parasites infections in animals. This drug is not suitable for humans.

Albon Dosage For Dogs Diarrhea

A veterinarian may suggest a complete dosage plan for your dog. Sulfadimethoxine injection may be used as an initial dose for your pet. And then 5% oral suspension may be given for five to seven days for your puppy. One teaspoon of 5% Albon oral suspension contains almost 250mg of sulfadimethoxine.

55mg per one kilogram Albon dosage for dogs is advisable for 24 hours. But as said before, A veterinarian may suggest the best dosage plan for your puppy to treat diarrheal infections.
Albon is an antibiotic drug which is only available on a registered Veterinarian prescription only. It may not be suitable for some animals. Always consult your Veterinarian before using any kind of veterinarian drug.

Adverse Reactions or Side Effects

This medicine may not be suitable for all animals. Because it may show some life-threatening side effects and adverse reactions for your pet. Like any antibiotic drug, un-necessary usage may results in antibiotic resistance in dog's bodies that may never good for their health.

Here are some common side effects you may observe in your puppy after giving the dose;
  • Fever
  • Stomach Pain
  • Vomiting
  •  Nausea
  • Inflammation on the face or other parts of the body
  • Diarrhea
  • Loose Motion
  • Dry Mouth or Thirst
Immediately revisit your dog's veterinarian if you see any of the above side effects after using this drug. Also, re-consult your veterinarian if there are no signs of improvement after using two days of ALBON for dogs diarrhea.

Although, sulfadimethoxine is a highly tolerable antibiotic by dogs, cats, and small animals. But like any drug it may not suitable for some species of dogs. Never use Albon for dogs diarrhea and other parasitic infections for your dog if your dog is hypersensitive to any of its components or other sulfonamides like sulfisoxazole, zonisamide, etc.

For Pregnant and Nursing Dogs

Sulfadimethoxine is not recommended to use in pregnant or lactating dogs. Because there are high risks of side effects for them. This drug may be used in pregnant or nursing dogs under veterinarian advice. When the benefits outweigh the risk factors.

Sulfadimethoxine is stable at room temperature 15-30 degrees centigrade temperature. This antibiotic drug could definitely be used for dogs diarrheal and other infectious diseases but under veterinarian observations only.
