Antibiotics are drugs used to treat moderate to severe infectious diseases caused by bacteria (single: bacterium). There are so many antibiotic drugs that are FDA (Food and Drug Administration in the United States) approved to treat bacterial infections in canines and felines. But all of them are not available at any veterinary medicine shop, vet drugstore, or pharmacy without a valid vet prescription.

Why I can't buy Clavamox without a vet prescription?


You can buy some over-the-counter medicines like painkillers for pets. But, you are not allowed to consume drugs like antibiotics without a veterinarian prescription. This is because unnecessary use of anti-bacterial drugs may cause antibiotic resistance in the dog's body. So, the bacteria can develop resistance against antibiotic drugs uses to kill them.  

Everybody should avoid the unnecessary usage of antibiotics unless a doctor, physician, pharmacist, or veterinarian suggests it to treat infectious diseases caused by bacteria.

All antibiotic drugs including Clavamox (amoxicillin trihydrate and clavulanic acid or clavulanate potassium) chewable tablets, oral suspension, or drops are not allowed to sell without a veterinarian prescription at any part of the world. There are so many registered antibiotics like;
uses to treat bacterial infections like abscesses in dogs, cellulitis, skin infections, urinary tract infections, ear infection, nose infection, eye infection, periodontal disease, etc. But these all brands need a registered veterinarian prescription.
