Does Clavamox cause increased urination in dogs as a side effect?

It is effective against infectious diseases of the dog’s skin, nose, ear, eye, stomach, intestines, gums infection, periodontal infection as well as may be used to treat wounds, and abscesses caused by bacteria.

Zeniquin (marbofloxacin), Baytril (enrofloxacin), Simplicef (cefpodoxime proxetil), Convenia injection (cefovecin sodium) are best alternatives of Clavamox, antibiotic drugs used to treat all types of bacterial infections (including UTI) in canine and feline.

Therefore, veterinarian suggests Clavamox, amoxicillin trihydrate and clavulanic acid preparation treat urinary tract infection in dogs. A urinary tract infection may disrupt or damage the organs that are directly involved in urination, i.e, urethra, bladder, kidneys, renal pelvis, and ureters.

Often, E. coli or other types of bacteria are directly involved to develop a urinary tract infection in dogs.

Common Side Effects of Using Clavamox For Dogs Urinary Tract Infections

Although amoxicillin trihydrate and clavulanate potassium are FDA approved to treat UTIs in dogs and cats. It’s highly tolerated by the dog’s body. But sometimes it may cause some rare to moderate side effects in pets.

Consult your veterinarian if a dog is hypersensitive to penicillin or other penicillin-type antibiotics including amoxicillin.
